Saturday, June 20, there is a big Speed Dating event in SLO. It has been a year since our last one here on Matchdoctor. Why do speed dating? If you have been to a mingle or party and did not get a chance to talk to the one person you wanted to meet there because everyone else was busy talking to him or her, then you know that speed dating levels the playing field. It means you get to talk to everyone you want to. It is great for shy people too! Come to the class and learn how to get over your shyness at this event! It also optimizes your time, and makes outdated pictures on dating sites not matter at all.
It took quite a lot of work to get it going, and a lot of people have been asking for this to happen again. I have already had 35 people register, and it looks like we may go OVER 50 singles this time. That means a LOT of singles for you to get to know. Here is how it breaks down.
Everything happens on June 20 at the SLO Grange Hall. It is located at 2880 Broad St. The women will be seated, and the men will rotate every 4-5 minutes, depending on how many people we have. You will keep track of your choices on a tally card and turn that in. We will compare your cards and every time two people marked yes for each other, we will exchange contact info so you can follow up with your selections.
Cost is $15 (paid at the door) and includes appetizers, food at break, door prizes (everyone gets a ticket when they register/check in), and we will be playing music this time. We got it all worked out :-) That means after the event, you can stick around for a bit and mingle. We will also have some low mood music to ease nerves during the event.
At 5 pm there is a class to teach you about speed dating. This is a chance for you to prepare for success. Last year we had 94% success in matches, so this should help bring it up to 100% :-) This class is included in the price.
If you are pre-registered you can sign in at 6 pm to get your ID tag and settle in. Pre-registered sin gles will get an extra ticket for an extra chance to win. You can pre-register with an email to {email address removed} and you will be able to check in through the express line. If we get over 50 people pre-registered, I will have a little gift for each person that has pre-registered. That is another reason to click on the link and register now. I already have a LOT of people registered, so it is possible. Register now!
Regular registration starts at 6:30 for everyone else. Registration forms will be in the lobby, you complete it and get in line. Believe me, it is easier and faster if you pre-register. Of course, don't hesitate to come if you are not registered. We have PLENTY of room!
You must be registered and checked in by 7 pm when the event starts. Don't be late, or you may miss it. I cannot register anyone once it starts. If you are pre-registered and running late, call me and I will hold your place during the event. You may miss one or two people, but as long as I have your info, I can work you into the rotation.
7 pm we have to get it going so we can work through in time to be done at a reasonable time. I don't anticipate things going past about 930, unless you want to hang around til 10, or we have a LOT of singles. I will also encourage people to head over to the Grad after the event for dancing. Let's make a FULL night of it!
Is there any reason NOT to try speed dating? It is fun, you will make friends, you might find a match, and it is quite an experience. I was getting emails about last year's speed dating for a couple months! People wanted to bring their friends to one. Since this is replacing June's sin gles mingle, the cost is affordable and the timing is right. Register now and experience something new, fun, and rewarding!

Speed dating is so 90's. Did it one time and swore I'd never do it again. Very boring way to spend an evening.
