Thanks for all the thoughts, everyone. Seems like all I've done last night and today is cry. Funny how much I'll miss him and I hadn't even met him in person yet! We had talked about meeting over the years (I think I met him online 5 yrs ago or so--I told him to join MD!) and it just never happened. So when he said he wanted to go to the May get together I was so excited!

DR I'm sure he's in a much better place now. And he went the way it would be nice that everyone should--in his sleep. However I was unaware that he had any kind of heart problems--the lady that emailed me said his heart just quit.

Anyway I have kept nearly all the personal emails he sent me over the years so I will have some nice memories. He also had sent me pics of his trip to Great Britain last spring with his niece. That's when I sent him my blogs about the camping trip.

Do I need to let the mod know that my friend passed away? I doubt if his family will do anything about his MD account.

Sign, I am so sorry for your loss sweetie! It is strange how close we can become with someone on here and never meet them face to face. Just got to keep in mind that he is in a better place now. My thoughts are with you.

Sign. I am so sorry to hear about the lost of your friend and fellow MDer. Well he is God's hand but the best thing for us to do is keep him in our hearts and never forget the words he wrote to some of us. He sounded like a great guy and he will be miss. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

As I promise a few days ago... I have gathered all the suggestions I could find from several threads. Here is the consensous. Let me know what I need to add.

Cabin Reservations, Van Rental, and Car Pooling - Luvvy & Duvvy
Kitchen - Katt
Tansportation/logistics - Rosebowl
Music & Entertainment - Cartay & Rosie
Cooler Labels - Cartay
Paper Supplies - Knitengale99
Tent/Shelter Location, & Firewood - Tamak
Bridal shower - Lucky & Spring
Awards - Sign
Clean up - Newpatches
Tech Man - Sawduster

Rosebowl: (and others)
Renting 2 golf carts for easy transportation for the people back to their cabins or to the bathrooms late at night. It would also be use for going to the store if we need more ice and things like that
Sorry, that won't work. No motorized vehicles allowed. PLEASE someone bring a wagon, wheel barrow, dolly, something with WHEELS.

Have time for eating. Like 8-10 for breakfast 1-3 for lunch and 6-8 for dinner. Make lunch like a build your own subs so it give some more time cooking dinner. Which the food was great this year. Make breakfast on Sunday and Monday fruit and cereal so they is not a lot of preperation.
See above... Katt

Bring coffee tins and use them as ashtrays so we do not have to pick up the butts when we leave.
Lisa has this covered.

Label the coolers for easy findings of what you are looking for
See above... Cartay

More tents for more cooking storing and room for people to get out of the rain.
I know Cartay said she can bring her 3 room tent, anyone else, PLEASE bring whatever you have, going to be more people this year, so we will need more shelter from sun and (God forbid) rain.

Start packing the night before we leave so we do not have to hurry the next day because check is 11.
GREAT IDEA!

Maybe have prizes for certain things or games.

Again, see above... Sign, Cartay, & Rosie

Sign said:
Yes we ran out of stuff but we made do. It was a CAMPING trip ya know?? Not all the luxuries of home. The golf carts are a good idea. I know several of us made ice runs with the wagon which really wasn't bad. The little store (what was the name of the place with the orange palm tree anyway??) was not far away and since no one really went hiking (except Canu and friend) it was good exercise to walk over and get the ice.
We definitely need more of those tent thingies at the kitchen area (dang! my mind is not working today, I can't remember words!) And if everything is labelled and kept in the same spot that would help. That dang trash can kept moving all week end! After the kitchen area is set up, I can make and post a diagram of where everything is.
All great ideas Sign, and I think they are all covered EXCEPT that moving trash can! We need a couple more of those. Anybody???

Katt:
Looks like you might need someone that has managed a kitchen huh?
Hehee, see above!

Cartay:
I have been put in charge of making labels for coolers and supplies so we all know where everything is.

Gotcha!

NewPatches:
If I'm not mistaken I've been appointed to head up the clean up committee. (if that's wrong luvvy just let me know) I am the oddball who loves to clean and organize....my friends here at home have dubbed me "Ms. Tidy Bowl"...
You gotta come now Missy! You are commited.

Lisa:
Well since I drink alot of coffee I will start saving my cans
Check!

sawduster:
anyone else that has a laptop with a regular network connection, and is cleaned, no personal info, i am thinking we can set up a small network so more than one person at a time can get online. i did the best i knew how this year with what i had to work with, but only have one answer for the low to none signal we were able to get from the camp site. we might want to think about setting up dummy profiles, one for the men,one for the women, so we don''t have to keep logging in and out, then delete them after the trip. just make sure we sing any posts or blogs done on them with who we are.
EXCELLENT!!!

MOAnnie:
Its up to the Food Crew but...simple campfire food would be fine with me. Hobo pockets, backed potatoes...food you can fix on a fire. The kind of food I can't get at home and you wouldn't have to take so many "appliances" with you.

We supply water, ice tea, lemonade and coffee. Let people bring their own pop and our transportation mgr can get those people that fly in to the store if necessary.
We are still working on the menu... will post as soon as possible.

Keep silverware in buckets or something handy on the tables. I think I heard "where are the forks" a ton of times this weekend.
Lisa, can you add a couple coffee cans for this? Keep a plastic container with tp & paper towels under the sinks in the bathroom so someone won't have to keep checking if they need supplies.
Uhh... Lisa, just HOW many coffee cans will you have by then? Do you need someone else to start saving some too?

Lucky:
I am in charge of Tee Shirts again, don't forget that
WOO HOO!

LaughTillYaPuke:
Couple of things.
1. Are there any hotels or other places to stay near by? It sounds like next year might be quite large and for people like me who really don't know until the last minute...it might be fun to attend on the spur of the moment, but have an actual bed to sleep in.
Yes, Turkey Run Inn is a mile down the road, Rockville is 8 miles away, and Crawfordsville is around 10 miles away.
As far as children go.....I guess if I was going to the camping trip...you can plan on me bringin Miss Clitora along. I work in a school as well, and MD is the place where I come to play with you guys. I behave myself all day every day, and if i show up at that camping trip....this girl is cutting loose.
I guess you have to think to yourself....do I want my child to see Puke party till she does? Do I want to see her kissing the girls on the neck just to promote the gay rumors? Do I really want my child to see her start up a game of Spin the Bottle or Truth or Dare? 'Cause I'm gonna if I show up.
BRING IT ON BABY!

Katy:
Hopefully the one in charge of selecting cabins will let us have the same roomies as this year...we were certainly a good fit and on the same page. That is so important.
Its DONE Katy!

Cartay:
I will be bringing the tent no matter what in case it's needed for storage or sleeping.
We sure can use it, and ANY MORE that anyone can bring!

Loreli and Rosebowl: cell phone reception
yes there was a cell phone tower about 200 yards

Fender:
I posted this on the suggestions thread too, but I want to know, because i looked at all 600 and some of the pics if it would be possible to get a t'shirt made for me if I can't go and have it at the camp out and maybe everyone could sign it for me with a permanent marker and then someone could mail it to me after the camp out...
Get with Lucky on this K?

Lucky:
I think a talent show would be a hoot or maybe the Gong Show............
How about a cooking contest or a dance off or three legged race or any kind of games that we can make awards for...........I still think that a talent contest or the gong show would be fun thing to do.............

Duvvy and I are going to have a couple "wedding" games...

Loreli:
Just an idea for the gong...if a drum can't be borrowed....tie pie tins to each other (you could put some pea gravel or small rock inside 2 ot them, and sew them together) and hit them with a spatula

Cartay:
If you all really want a talent (gong) show and scavenger hunt for next year then I can set them up. That's what a music and entertainment leader is for

Sign:
Thanks Car, most sunburned is a good one! I may even win that one myself! Although now I'm pretty tan. Took awhile though. Oldest and youngest camper (should I just fill in RB's name on the youngest??)
Nope, so far its Chocolateman

Luvvy:
I need to find out how many people can bring grills, so I can figure out if we can have the kabobs. Tamak said she'd bring hers. I am also going to get another tripod to leave up there, we can cook them on it too.

EDITED TO ADD:
We will need LOTS more coolers this year. I won't be able to bring my 4 this time. (I am gonna be so lost without my camping gear)

Subtle:
responding here that I will be there....I have one large cooler (how do I lose these things!!), possibly 2-3 depending on who comes w/and what type vehicle we drive.....the two canopy thingys, um.....general camping supplies
Yippie! Your stuff came in so handy last year.

Rosebowl:
I have a huge mixing bowl with a lid. I will bring it you need it
Are you still going to bring that big mixing bowl Rosebowl???

umm Luvy i think I got about 5 or 6 already and they are the big cans ( and plastic) but I will be buying kitty litter to put in them for the "sand" easier that way. Since I quit smoking I really dont' like picking the butts up off the ground like we all did last year People bringing their own drinks is a great idea (i did last year) and it worked out pretty well.

Hey Lucky I may be following you?? not sure yet...

Oh yeah can't wait to see you next month I'm so excited

Hey Luvvy.........my tent is a single room tent but is supposed sleep 7 people so there should be plenty of room for us to hide from sun or rain.

Katt.........I will need to know how you are organizing the kitchen area and what labels you will need.
