12th Annual Wiggles of the West Belly Dance Contest at Boomtown Hotel & Casino
July 13, 14, 15, 2007
http://www.twooldbags.net/wow.html
This is a good place for a California/Nevada gathering. Some of us went last year, rented rooms at Boomtown, and we had a great time. Good food, good friends, and the belly dance contest was a bonus. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Oh, that should be a hard sell. Throbbing drumbeats, gorgeous dancing women, and event with few male in attendence to divert attention....yeah, that will be a tough sell.

Ya gonna RSVP, Toucher? Or do I have to give you another arm twistin'? You can always remove yourself from the RSVP if you change your mind.

The Hafla is a party where people get up and dance. In this case it's a buffet the contest puts on, mainly for the dancers, the night before the contest starts. It usually spotlights a live band that people can dance to, rather than recorded music. For the most part, it's a kind of inhouse party the party goers pay for themselves. I have to go. If it wasn't an obligation, I probably wouldn't go to this. Then again, I'm going to have enough mid-eastern music to set my eardrums to throbbing in 7/8 for the 2 weeks after the event is over.
As for the ticket packages. Since you are local, I'd suggest making certain you stay for the finals on Sunday. Other than that, it's up to you. Getting the 2 or 3 day pass, allows you to enter and exit as your interest waxes and wanes. Again, I'm there all 4 days. from Thursday night until Monday morning. I'm on from noon to 10 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please don't make plans around my participation. My breaks, for lunch and dinner, tend to happen in the showroom. Other than that, I'm working the floor almost constantly.
Personally, I'd choose the 3 day package, no hafla, for convienence. If others have ideas of going to the lake or maybe Truckee for a day, then that might be a good reason to just buy day tickets.

Uh-huh! And just what's so important that you can't show up to support your girlfriend, Pali?
We're going to try to make it this year again, but we're really going to visit Reno, and not just the Wigglers. Katt really wants to see the wedding chapel again, and she has a new tan she'd like to show off at the pool.
We'll be in and out all weekend.
Uh, you DO know this on Friday the 13th, don't you? Is that a slow day at the casino or something?
