FALL BONFIRE & WIENIE ROAST @ WAHOO BAY

The Muskogee area MD'ers have cooked up yet another fun outing. We want to enjoy the outdoors one more time before it gets too cold. So we have decided to have an old-fashioned bonfire & wienie roast. We will begin in the afternoon while the sun is out and the air is, hopefully, still warm. Then we will take it from there as to how long we stay. Hopefully it will be unseasonably warm and we can enjoy ourselves for hours.

WHAT: Bonfire & Wienie Roast
WHERE: Wahoo Bay Campground, Ft. Gibson Lake
WHEN: November 2nd (Sunday)
TIME: 2:00 pm - ????
TABLE: #9

BRING: Your own: Lawn Chair, Eating Utensils (plate, cutlery, napkins), drinks, jacket/warm clothing, blanket.

I was at the campground last week and they had quite a bit of wood just a little ways off (pushed off to the side, looked like where they had done ice storm clean-up) and there was a big pile of drift wood, but who knows if it will be still there in two weeks. It probably will be, but some of us might want to bring a little wood to play it safe.

VOLUNTEERS needed to bring the following:

Firewood
Hot Dogs
Buns
Condiments
Chips
Marshmallows
And anything else we can think of.

*Cards, frisbee, lawn games, etc. would be nice if anyone cares to bring any.

And if anyone can cook up a small hay ride around the area, that would be great!

FYI - This is a "dry" park, meaning there will be absolutely no electricity nor running water available. Yes, there is a small bathroom. And the park is nicely kept.

WATCH FOR THIS TO BE UPDATED OFTEN See You there!!!

Hey! Where is everybody? Where is everyone's sense of adventure? It is suppose to be a BEAUTIFUL day Sunday! Are me and allcountry going to have to eat all those hot dogs I got all by ourselves? So far they are saying 77 degrees and sunny on Sunday. It couldn't be more perfect. And the view across the lake should be wonderful. If nature cooperates, the leaves should just about be at their peek that day and we will be surrounded on all sides with a colorful view.

Where are all of you outdoorsy people?

Did you mark it as an event? Perhaps it should have been in an event thread. They post it on the front page then.

Yes, I did, I posted it under the events on October 20th (which automatically posted it here, also). It has been up both places ever since. But no responses except the two of us that put it together and one from New York that wishes they could come.

If only two of us goes, we will just have to have enough fun for everyone. Not sure how we will eat these 6 packages of hot dogs, though, lol. No one has to mess with building the bonfire if they don't want to (although helping to carry a few pieces of wood would help). I will be glad to do that. People just don't know what they are missing. It will be a BEAUTIFUL day and the scenery all around the lake should be awesome by Sunday.

Thank you for the suggestion, though.

SpiritEnergy, that is just fine, no problem

Happy, wish you could join us, too, but I hope you have a lot of fun where ever you are going. Even if it gets down to just one or two of us, we will have fun. I am afraid that it is the fact that there isn't any electric or running water available that is keeping everyone away, but there are simple remedies for that and we will enjoy it so much we won't even notice. And all that is available less than a mile away. Oh, well, those of us that go will just have to blog/forum on here next week to tell the ones that don't all about how much fun we had.

I am having trouble getting the pics to load. I have tried 3 times, now. I am using a new camera and I think they are coming out too big. I will try here again in a little while.

I was the only one that showed up. Not another soul did. Two did e-mail me, but not until I was away from my Internet for the weekend, so I didn't get them until I came back. The person who's idea the outing was, and had been working on it with me, didn't show up, didn't return my call, and didn't return my e-mail. I'm still trying to eat all those darned hot dogs! I sat there surrounded with all that beautiful scenery and bunches of hot dogs, s'more fixings, chips, and a few other assorted things, relaxing and enjoying the peace. An opossum did come to visit for a little while. I even took soap/water for the squeemish and was armed with my tiki torches for when it got dark. Radio, cards, lawn games, and all. I fully intended to make the best of my only day off before Thanksgiving.

Oh, well, I enjoyed it. It was so quiet I even got to sit and watch the fish jumping. Only a couple of other people were in the park (no ranger in site), then when they left I had the park 100% to myself. It was nice. Would have been nicer with a fella, though, lol. You guys missed a good day. The weather was absolutely PERFECT!

The photos are all loaded in, now. Watch for them in a day or two.

As it got dark that day I realized I was the only one in the park, which was nice, but spooky considering there were no rangers, no electricity, no security lights, just darkness. So I called a close-by friend (my old fishing buddy) and asked if he wanted to come out and help me roast/eat hot dogs over the fire I had going. He didn't want to get back out but said he'd build a fire if I wanted to go to his house. So I did, he built a nice bonfire (actually he built it so good he had to grab the hose to have on stand-by), I roasted my hot dogs, romped with his dogs, helped him butcher his deer (I cut meat off the leg while he ground it), watched the stars come out and had an awesomely relaxing day.

Gosh Bill, if I knew that was all it took to get a fella's attention I would have told you a long time ago I had a good stock of it in my freezer.
Made spaghetti out of it Monday, big batch, and have been eating on it since.
