Great thinking Jim!!!
For those who are interested in exploring the tidepools check out the information at this State site http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/NATRES/RS_FAQtidepools.shtml
And some info on Heceta Head (note the night tour of the Lighthouse Aug 4th)
Heceta Head State Park (which includes Devils Elbow State Park) is located in a cove at the mouth of Cape Creek. There are picnic tables sheltered from the wind and a great view of the ocean. A short trail leads to the historic Heceta Head lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's house. A recently-completed trail gives you a spectacular view of the coast north to Cape Perpetua.
Heceta Head trail is part of a 7-mile network. Trails of varying difficulty feature beach and wildlife viewing areas. Wildlife refuge islands feature a view of puffins, cormorants, gulls, and other bird nesting areas. Sea lions and whales can be seen from the beach and cliff-top lighthouse.
On the west side of 1,000-foot-high Heceta Head, 205 feet above the ocean, the lighthouse is one of the most photographed on the coast. The light at top of 56-foot tower was illuminated in 1894; the automated beacon, seen 21 miles from land, is rated as the strongest light on the Oregon coast. Heceta Head Lighthouse Tours May-September: Daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March, April, and October: Daily, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov.-Feb. Call for tour schedule. 2007 Night Tours Aug. 4, 7, 10 - 9 p.m. Sept. 1 - 9 p.m.
Common murres, which lay their eggs on the bare rocks, can be easily seen by looking down, just over the railing near the lighthouse. Brown pelicans commonly fly by, as do bald eagles. Migrating gray whales can be seen as they travel to and from Alaska and Baja California. May is a great time to look right down on the migrating mothers and calves as they travel close to shore.
There are natural caves, tidepools, a sandy beach for building sandcastles, and good conditions for surfing. There are plenty of picnic tables for groups and areas to set up volleyball nets.

Hello Everyone,
We now have 23 days not counting today until the Campout. Although I personally sent out over 150 email invitations, and I do believe that People who haven’t RSVP’d will show up for the campout, it looks like the 15 RSVPs we have now are the core group of our gathering. I just want to ask this Core group to please give Jim and I some input as to ideas that you may have, is there anything that you would like to be in charge of, an activity that you would Include...Jim and I have things planned, but anyone who wants to can plan and Execute an activity…Jim doesn’t care for hot dogs and would rather do Shishkabobs, Does anyone else have a preference? Who has a garden and might want to bring Fresh veggies…would we rather do a brunch before going down to the beach??? Speak up please…

I'm officially in. I've offered to help Jim with the kites. I would also like to offer my baking skills. I will bring cinnamon rolls for a breakfast treat.

Awesome!!! I have a camp oven for on my stove, I like biscuits and sausage gravy in the morning, and if anyone else would like to do some baking at camp it will be available. Hmmm, homemade cinnamon rolls will be great with coffee first thing waking up. I have to admit that I use the biscuit rolls when camping, so they are not homemade

ENFP and I have been talking, we are thinking that a bake fest would be fun...I know that Frolicking is a baker, how does that sound to you? ENFP also had a Great Idea, she says that grilled pizza is really good...she has a portable grill, I have an extra grill grate for the fire ring...we could all bring different toppings and pool them together. Sounds like fun doesn't it? And Jim, not a Hot Dog in sight

Hey, it sounds great to me! With all these fine food ideas, it looks like it's gonna be a sit-down campout! I'll plan to bring a folding camp chair!

I understand, Jim doesn't want hot dogs. Well, what about the folks who would like them?? Seems to me that Shishkabobs would be a lot more difficult to make. Just a thought. Oh well!!

I've always wanted to try this...
Breakfast in a PAPER BAG 1-2 Strips of Bacon 1-2 Handfulls Frozen Hash Browns 1-2 Eggs Equipment Lunch Sized Paper Bag Pointed Stick, Hot Campfire Coals, Fork 1. Open paper bag and place bacon strips on bottom. 2. Toss in potatoes. 3. Break in egg(s). 4. Close by folding down top of paper bag at least three times but leaving 3"-4" of air space above the food. 5. Insert pointed stick only through the top folded part of the bag. 6. Prop with rocks, or hold bag on the stick about 4"-5" over the hot coals for about 8-10 minutes (careful not to touch the coals or hold over flames or you'll set your breakfast on fire.) 7. When you can't stand the delicious aroma anymore and your nose is making your tummy SCREAM..... 8. Remove from heat and pull out the stick with an oven mitt. 9. Open the bag and fold down the paper. Eat right out of the brown bag. 10. Throw your "dishes" in the fire (but don't forget to save the forks.)

You know Redwicket, I am tired of your comments about negativity. There was nothing negative about it. I was just stating a fact. Just because it isn't what you want it is negative! Right! As far as I am concerned, you can take care of all this yourself. You wouldn't be having it if I hadn't kept it going Miss Positivity. Forget my even showing up.

I am sad to see the squabbling. As far as the food is concerned; if there is something that one of the group would like to have and feels it is to difficult for them to fix, I am more than willing to do the preparation. We each have our own talents. I love to cook, while I am sure there are others you don't or can't cook. This is a joint effort, so lets work together and make this a fun weekend for everyone.

I second that ENFP I'm not a great cook myself, and hate it!! I was just thinking about bringing along some stuff in a cooler, and going from there. Don't really know cause I've never done this before. I don't know how many days I'll stay. I guess it all depends. Just going to pull in and setup camp, and tent then look around to see if I reconize anyone from here. Maybe I'll go to each of your profiles, and download one of your pics, and print it out so I'll have a better idea.

Hi, Wes --
Yep, sure enough -- my hair's about the same length as it was when that pic was taken, I guess maybe close to 2 years ago now, but last June I quit cutting the length of my beard, so I've got quite a hank of white whiskers! Not bushy like Santa Claus, but the length of growth in a year surprises me!
If you read through all the posts on this forum, you'll see the suggestion that we each not only wear a name tag, but that we also decorate our campsite with a banner of some kind that shows our online name, so there won't be any question of who's who! That was Redwicket's idea, and I think it'll be a fun way to be creative ... and work ourselves up to the kite-building project! Yeah, be sure to read all the details!

Jim thanks for all the info. Good idea about the banner. A banner will probably have other camper nearby wondering why I'm flying a sign that says "Lovinheart is here!" LOL Okay...see you around the camp fire.
