Great photos (and captions), Wes. Thanks for sharing---looks like a fun time, despite the heat. Have any of you been reading about the Indiana campout this weekend? (forums/general/....two different threads) Sounds as if we might want to consider an Oregon 'caravan' to next year's festivities :-)

The pictures were great West and Jim!! Thanks for posting them on a web site we can all access Wes. For those who attended, I would enjoy reading all of your thoughts about the event if you care to share.

Yeah, Sally --
That hat gets more action than I do! Y'know how, when somebody whispers something in your ear, they'll say "Keep it under your hat." Well, that hat has room for LOTS of secrets!
Well, the heat was a surprise at the picnic/campout, but I found it a welcome change from all the cold weather we've been having lately. I'd brought frisbees and a kite, a volleyball and a huge beach ball -- none of which got used. Mostly we sat around (in the shade), ate and gabbed. Three of us walked to the river -- sure enough, too cold to go in! Jessie (Justy) and her friend went to the river later from the campground, but I didn't get a report on their experience. The location was a fine one -- plenty of space, beautiful setting, nice facilities. They hadn't mowed the Day Use area yet -- I guess they don't expect much activity until Memorial Day Weekend. But we did beat the crowds!
I think the whole event was a great success, and I'd love to do another one! It was wonderful to finally meet a few of the people on this site, and it'd be great to get acquainted with more of you! Seems that everybody wants a location near home ... but we all live so far apart! Maybe one here, one there is the way to go ....
-- Jim

Okay everyone! When is the next get together. My pool Regionals are all over for a year. That is if my teams qualify this year. Neither one qualified for Vegas.
I know this is soon after the last Get Together, but it is never too soon to start planning one. This time perhaps more time for you all to decide whether you are interested or not.
I was disappointed with locals in So. Oregon who said they were coming, then are no shows. It was great that some from other areas managed to show up. I was disappointed that my 8 Ball Regionals fell on the same date. I was not told of this until after we planned to have the Get Together. It was great that Jim and Wes were able to be there and help out. Let's all plan for August. Sound good??

Phil...August sounds good. maybe this time somewhere futher north to sort of centralize it.That way maybe we can get more people to attend.
Kinda like to find out just how many people that are on Match Doctor live here in Oregon. If I knew that, then I would email all of them, and let them know about a possible August get together.

That sounds like a good idea Wes. I am not sure just how yu could do it myself. I would ask redwicket. She is really sahrp on all this stuff. What a bright gal she is.
I would send a generic invitation to everyone. Type it out, the cut and paste it and send it. It would save you a lot of time.
Keep me in the loop. I am sure Jim would come up with some ideas also.

Hey, guys --
Sure -- count me in! August sounds good, and Lovinheart, that idea to send a message directly to each Oregon member of MatchDr. is a good one too! Maybe the "search" function would help you find everybody, if you plug in the right parameters.
For a location, what would you think of Silver Falls State Park, east of Salem? I've been there a couple of times, and found it a truly magical experience! August would be a good month for that spot -- the mist coming off the falls (and there are many!) should be a nice break from the "dog days" of summer! (Speaking of dogs, though, they're not allowed.) That location might be far enough north to draw even the Portland area people, and other cloud-covered folks! Whaddya think?

Jim...I gotta give you a big thumbs up for your ideal of Silver Falls ...Gosh!! I haven't been there in over 40 years since I lived in Salem. It ewould be a great place for any get-to-gether..Good call Jim.
Just remembered that I haven't lived in Salem since 1958...so maybe that's like 50 years..Where did the time go?

(peaking through the clouds, to see what's happening) Silver Falls would be a 'day trip' for those of us in the Portland area---this one is sounding possible! I'm still back and forth between Baker City and here, trying to empty the BC house a bit more each trip. Entertained an offer this week, but we were unable to find an acceptable middle ground. Cross your fingers, please! If a firm sale happens before this gathering, I'll bring the Sparkling Cider :-)

I may be tossing a fly in the ointment, but if the Get together is at Silver Falls, someone in that area should be doing the planning. Jim, red, Wes and I have come through twice now and few have really shown up. I am VERY disappointed in the locals who say they will attend, then don't show up, and have no excuse. Unfortunately I have not been able to attend either CO due to circumstances.
Am I wrong in what I am saying here?
Some seem to think they just want to travel a few miles. Sure, we all do due to the $4.00 plus gas prices. Maybe we should try to just have local get togethers. I don't know, I am just trying to toss out some ideas.
C'ya!!

Great, Sally -- it'll be wonderful to finally meet you! You've been showing so much positive support for these gatherings in the past, I'm glad this one will work for ya!
I found a website that has all the details about the Park:
www.oregonstateparks.org/park_211.php
It looks like they've changed their policy on pets -- a couple of years ago when I was there, they restricted pets to just a couple of the trails. Most of the falls were off-limits. Oh, and I was wrong about the number of falls -- it's not 9, it's 10! They range from 27 feet to 177 feet in height! There are 25 miles of trails!
We could plan it as we did this most recent gathering: The nearby people can make it a day-trip, if they like; the distant folks can stay a while. Besides individual and group RV and tent-camping sites, they have 14 cabins available! Maybe we should pick a date soon, so we can get whatever reservations we might need ....
Yes, I have to agree with you, Phil -- it'd be handy to have somebody near there to help coordinate info and logistics. Anybody up for that?
-- Jim

Well guys I'd just like to say...Good Luck on Silver Falls Anytime in the summer I know people who have their family gathering there every year in August and they make the plans (and reservations) about the same time they have the gathering for the next year.
It's an Extremely popular place for good reason...
I'd also like to ask why on Earth are you trying to plan a New gathering on a thread for an Old one??? Just doesn't make any sense to me
Wes, I just hung out online watching the Oregon singles online and when someone new came on I would send them a little email (pre-written) telling them about the campout last year...then you have an idea too as to who is pretty active here, Good luck!

Red "O' wise One!! I have no clue on how to start a new thread, and no clue on how to get rid of the old ones.. So does that answer you! You are so good on this thing, we need to have you as Executive Secretary or something like that.
I am not getting on your case, simply stating fact!!
I believe you may be correct about Silver Falls during the Summer!!
Love Ya!!!

I wish I attended so I could meet you and get to know you more. Nonetheless, I am still interested and like to hear from you. While I am enjoying the single life, getting intimate and building a long relationship with you might be the best gift god could give me. Be my gift. Scota
